GREECE  September 2-17  (16 days for $2400 plus $200 domestic air)  

    After two days in Athens, we go to Crete for two days.  Then through the Peloponnese, where we'll see not only famous places like Mycenae, Corinth, and Olympia but also Argos, Mistras, Vassai, Methoni, and Pylos.  Plus exquisite Arcadian villages like Laggadia, Dimitsaina, and Andritsaina and the Ionian seaports of Kiparissia and Pylos.  We'll finish with three days on Skopelos, most beautiful of Greek islands.

Eleusis

TURKEY  Sep 16-Oct 2  (17 days for $2380 plus $160 domestic air and yacht)


    From Athens we'll fly to Samos, then go by ferry to Kusadasi on the Turkish coast.  We'll go along the coast through Ionia, Karia, and Lycia  to Antalya, from where we'll head northeast to Konya, Cappadocia, the Hittite cities, and Ankara.  Then we'll finish with four days in Istanbul.

Oct 2-24  (23 days for $3450 plus $200 for travel to and from Crete)


    After three days on Skopelos, most beautiful of Greek islands, we'll spend a week in northern Greece.  We'll see Mount Pelion and Mount Olympus, the tomb of Philip II at Vergina, the monasteries at Meteora, the mountain villages Metsovo and Konitsa, Vikos Gorge, the Oracle of Zeus at Dodoni, and the Oracle of Apollo at Delfi.
    After a couple of days in Athens, we'll visit the Peloponnese, where we'll stay at Nafplion, Pylos, Olympia, and Laggadia, and visit all the famous sites (and some not so famous).  Then we'll go to Crete for 2 days and return for a final day in Athens.
    If you would like to do only Skopelos, northern Greece, and Athens, the tour would be Oct 2-15 and cost $2100.
    If you would like to do the second half (Athens, the Peloponnese and Crete), the tour would be Oct 13-24 and cost $1800 plus
$200 for travel to and from Crete.

Corinth:  Temple of Apollo



GREECE IN JANUARY  Jan 3-16, 2006  (14 days for $2100)


    We'll leave Athens Jan 4 for Delfi (the Oracle of Apollo) and stay overnight.  On Jan 5 we'll visit the Oracle of Zeus on the way to Metsovo, a mountain village (and ski resort) east of Ioannina, high in the Pindos Mountains.  On Jan 7 we'll go to Meteora, a group of monasteries perched on top of cliffs, and then to the port of Volos.  On Jan 8 we'll spend the day exploring the villages of Mount  Pelion above Volos.  We'll go to Athens for the 9th and 10th to see the Akropolis, Agora, and National Museum.  On the 11th we'll drive to Nafplion and visit Mycenae, Argos, and Epidauros.  On the 13th we'll see the nearby island Spetses. After visits to Vasses and Olympia on the 14th we'll return to Athens on the 15th.

2005 Prices


    You can select whatever days you want to come, for as little or as much time as you wish, since the price is determined by how many days you stay.
    The price for Greece is 150 dollars per day (including the day you arrive and the day you leave).  Turkey is $140 per day.  Single supplement is 30 dollars per night.  There is a yacht supplement of 60 dollars per day for the Turkish yacht, and there is a charge of 100 dollars for each domestic flight.  There are no other additional costs.  Included are all other transportation, hotels, breakfast and half the dinners, admissions, lectures and guide services.  Not included are visas (in 2004 a Turkish visa cost $20; no visa needed for Greece) and port taxes (minimal) and tips for the bus drivers and yacht crew (usually $3-5 per day).
