T4  Central Turkey and Black Sea July 9-July 18, 2005     From Istanbul we'll fly to Trabzon on the Black Sea (the fabled "towers of Trebizond"); a highlight is the cliff-hanging monastery of Sumela.  Then we'll drive southwest to Amasya, home of the ancient Pontic kingdom.  From here it's a short drive to the ancient Hittite cities, then to Cappadocia and Ankara, and back to Istanbul.
